Mediation Highlights
Mediation Is:
Impartial - Neutral: I am here for both of you.
Collaborative vs. Combative: We'll work together
Flexible: YOU ARE THE BOSSES when it comes to schedule, pace, when and how we handle each area of your divorce.
Private: Discussions between us stay between us.
Informed: Everything gets addressed, because everything is on the table.
Efficient: Saves Time and Money
Every moment together we are working towards your goals.
Mediation is quicker than litigated divorces. Because you set the scheduled rather than being dependent on the court's and attorney's schedules.
Less time in the process equals:
Less overall cost to finalize your divorce.
Less time and stress trying to figure it out on your own, getting you closer (and faster) to the next chapters in your lives
You are retaining one attorney instead of two.
Cost is shared between parties, leaving more financial resources for your family.
Reassuring:
You don't have to agree on anything or everything before we start
If you Do have agreements already I’ll ensure they are articulated and drafted to be acceptable to the court
If you Don’t have an agreement, we’ll work together and figure it out
You don’t have to know the law or court procedures (That’s My Job!)
The Mediation Process: How it Works
At each Mediation and Negotiation session we through each area that needs to be addressed in a divorce decree (Child support, Alimony, Property Division, Custody and Visitation, Debt Allocation) and come up with solutions for those areas that will be the basis for your agreement.
Mediation and Negotiation Sessions:
1 to 1.5 hours per session where we discuss your relevant issues, form agreements, and document those agreements for inclusion into your final separation agreement.
2-4 Mediation and Negotiation sessions on average to complete the mediation process (not including Final Session-see below)
Meeting Weekly or Biweekly, at your pace.
Separation Agreement
After all Mediation and Negotiation sessions are completed, the agreements you’ve made are compiled into a final separation agreement, drafted by the mediator.
Mediator prepares all paperwork needed to file for divorce and needed before, and at the final hearing.
Final Session includes review of separation agreement, all paperwork and the Mediator prepares parties for filing the divorce and the final hearing:
Where to go
What to file
Court Fees
When to arrive.
Who to see.
What to expect before, during and after your final hearing.
